American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Young Engineer of the Year

Niraj Acharya, P.E., CFM, has been named the 2016 Edmund Friedman Young Engineer of the Year by the Fort Worth branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). This award recognizes younger members of ASCE that exhibit outstanding contributions to the public welfare of the civil engineering profession.

Mr. Acharya holds both bachelors’ and masters’ degrees in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and is licensed in the State of Texas as both a Professional Engineer and a Certified Floodplain Manager. Since his graduation from UTA, he has been employed with Teague Nall and Perkins, Inc. (TNP).  TNP is a professional civil engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture firm that has served governmental and private sector entities since 1976. The firm has offices in Fort Worth, Allen, and Denton. Mr. Acharya serves as Project Manager of the firm’s StormWaterGroup, a team specializing in stormwater and drainage-related services.  Having grown up in Fort Worth, Mr. Acharya relishes serving the communities within the greater D/FW area and taking part in projects that are transforming the Metroplex into one of the nation’s largest and fastest growing regions.

Mr. Acharya’s involvement with ASCE dates back to his time at UTA, where he was a member and officer within the student chapter. He currently serves as Secretary and Assistant Treasurer of the Fort Worth Branch professional chapter and looks forward to continued service to the Branch and its members.

Away from work, Mr. Acharya enjoys spending time with his wife, Priya, and their five month old baby boy. Through trial and error, he has learned to keep his head and face elevated at all times during diaper changes.
